A Prayer Filled with Many Gifts

Last year I learned the eclectic Garden Hills strip center built in the late 1920’s was scheduled for demolition. As a neighbor for the past 30+ years, I walked by the center on a daily basis and supported its local retailers. The center was integral to my everyday life.

On December 4, 2013 two dozen fire trucks descended on my urban neighborhood in response to a treacherous fire ignited by a holiday neon sign. The fire caused structural damage and sentenced the beloved center to demolition.

Years earlier a neighbor in the adjacent condo building lovingly nurtured an amazing flower garden on the center’s north wall. Six to eight feet Sunflowers towered over the garden and sent good cheer to the hustle bustle on Atlanta’s famous Peachtree Road. As a budding photographer, the lovely garden was a perfect place to hone developing skills.

When I learned of the March 2015 eminent demolition I was devastated on many levels. Over the past year, I invested in a new camera, lenses, a tripod & other equipment along with intensive studies via classes, workshops and time in the field. My heart sank as I was so excited to capture the Sunflowers with my new camera and experience.

I prayed for the opportunity to capture the beloved Sunflowers one last time. For the Angels to answer prayers, the Heart must be open and clear of denser energies, especially those generated by the Mind. As a determined Scorpio, I dedicated myself to clear those denser energies so I may Live Within the Veils of the Heart where miracles are the way of life. A mirage of interesting experiences played out the energies ready for release.

Non-attachment to the outcome of my prayer was essential for the prayer to fulfill.

Slowly I embraced circumstances surrounding the demolition that earlier caused anger and resentment. I could feel my Heart opening and filtering love within and without my related experiences. It was empowering to witness Self disintegrate and release dense, unhealthy energies with love – a life changing experience!

Lone Sunflower
my prayer was answered

… and my prayer was answered!  A single Sunflower stalk with one flower grew through the sod placed over the demolition debris. For what seemed an eternity, I walked by the Sunflower stalk & bud daily sending love & checking status. The amazing Being grew to six feet+ and peered over the fence to the neighboring parking lot.

The morning the Sunflower opened I captured his unfurling and was graced with a photo bug bomb.  I came back every 12 hours for 36 hours until the magnificent Being was in full-bloom.

I stand in honor and gratitude of the gifts inherent with the Garden Hills Center demolition. With these gifts, I am well equipped to let go of what no longer serves me with ease and grace as I step through a major life gateway.

  1. Holly, your willingness to let go and be within your heart is awe inspiring. If we could all just let go and be, and not have to do, we would be so much better off as human beings. Thanks for always sharing such words and images from your heart.
